Revisiting the Familiar – Wyeth Walk #215
“Nature’s never a formula.” – Andrew Wyeth
Visited my summer trail today for the first time in a couple of months, and this pink vista surprised me, as I am used to seeing these woods all in browns and greens. What a treat to see them in a new view.
I’ve been having a really hard time getting out walking- been preparing for my big NYC concert (at the Metropolitan Room on Friday night!), I started doing a lot of yoga ever since August which has been taking the place of my walking, family life has been beyond busy… AND, these shorter days have been making it very hard to get inspired to get out in the early morning or in the evenings which is when I walked in the summer. I realized I started these walks in February I believe, when the days were getting progressively longer- this is my first experience with keeping up the walks with shorter and shorter days.
But, this beautiful surprise from nature, the healing and rest I got from the smell of leaves deep around my feet, and the wonderfully rejuvenating crisp air… all enough to remind me that revisiting the familiar can help me think about things in new ways. I am thinking for example I should pull out some of the piano repertoire I played when I was much younger- I wonder how my interpretations would surprise me today!?
