Impressions – Wyeth Walk #48
My brain was a blur today, had a hard time concentrating. So, when I finally made it out for a walk as the sun was setting and I was losing all my light, I thought it fitting to create a texture from motion – a blur to mirror my day.
This blurring of the edges reminded me a little bit of some of Ann Wyeth McCoy’s fog paintings. I decided to look online to see if there were any images to share here (I’ve seen them in the book of her paintings Anna B McCoy edited). I didn’t see any images in my quick search, but I did find this article about the passing of the NC Wyeth studio to the Brandywine River Museum of Art. Ann Wyeth McCoy is interviewed for the article. I hadn’t remembered or known that she actually got married inside her father’s studio under a mural he was working on for the National Cathedral. Talk about an inspiring backdrop! On tonight’s walk I was listening to a Chick Corea podcast, where Chick is interviewing Stanley Clarke. Fabulous interview… I loved how he said when he heard Love Supreme for the first time his first impression was that he didn’t know if he should like or not like the music- it was the first time he observed the music just for what it was. I feel like perhaps we could all do a little bit more of that with art and music – just observe it without judgement.
