Literality – Wyeth Walk #168
“Literality is almost entirely subordinated in the creation of a great work of art.” – NC Wyeth
These photos of mine are not the great works of art NC Wyeth speaks of here, but I love the way the creation of them makes me read his words and think about these thoughts. In this particular photo, I imagine this jewelweed, whose flower looks like a “Y”, is saying “Yes!” I loved the way the colors were so intense against the black hollow of a tree, and I was in a mood to overexaggerate them in the final image – to take the literalness out of the colors and have them make their exclamation to the world.
