Wyeth Walks

Self portraits – Wyeth Walk #72

Went to the Brandywine River Museum of Art this evening for the opening of the Horace Pippin exhibition.  In addition to enjoying the bold colors of the exhibit, I took some strolls through Wyeth galleries, and was particularly struck by NC Wyeth’s April Rain which I hadn’t seen before.  From 1935, the work is filled with muted colors and beautifully captures the mist and mood of the title.  I loved it so much that I think I might name one of my pieces after it.  I was also struck by the new acquisition of a John McCoy painting of a landscape in early spring- very beautiful, the subtle gradation of the pale sky in particular.

Had some fun taking pictures of my reflections in the glass superimposed on the views.
