Wyeth Walks

Striped Perspective – Wyeth Walk #159

I loved the stripes on this scene when I snapped the shot, but it wasn’t until I skewed the perspective by rotating the picture 90 degrees that they really jumped out.  I think by taking the reference point of a pond scene away, our minds can let go of what it is “supposed” to look like, and focus purely on the colors and shapes of the stripes.  I remember that Jamie Wyeth talked in his interview earlier this year about learning from his dad Andrew Wyeth to flip paintings upside down while working on them -that they become that much stronger if the composition and colors and details also work with that abstract, flipped perspective.
